We are not only what we eat, We FEEL what we eat. There has been an abundance of literature in the past decade on how sugars, processed foods, bad fats are bad for our health and bad for our mood. Food is as powerful as medication. Fuel your body and your mind for health!
How do I eat? And How do I recommend patients try to eat? • Organic • Sugar‐free • Gluten‐free • Dairy‐free • Non‐GMO • Whole and un‐processed foods • Variety of colorful fruits & veggies • Variety of leafy greens • Chlorophyll‐rich foods (green, plants) • Limit processed foods • Local, home grown • Avoid refined oils/trans fats • Avoid alcohol & limit caffeine • Avoid food allergens • Avoid the most toxic foods – Farmed atlantic salmon – High mercury fish – Non‐organic eggs & dairy – Dirty dozen fruits/veggies I have had patients who cannot tolerate or who have failed all medications they have tried, for them, being on a clean diet has been critical to their mental health. This can be an overwhelming list depending on how you eat right now. If you want to try, just start with one change that you think is reasonable. Anything you do makes a difference. If you already eat clean and want to take it to another level, try to cut out processed foods and eat only organic, non-gmo, whole food and pastured organic meat/eggs.
